Take Me There

New Yorkers tend to get Fridays off of work during the summer. As such, we have an abundance of opportunities to get large groups of our friends together to split the costs of exquisite coastal getaways. Where do New Yorkers go, you ask? The Hamptons, Miami, Cape Cod, and even the Carolinas are popular destinations that New Yorkers travel to during the dog days of summer. All of these vacation spots are tremendously popular amongst those living on the East Coast.

While not everyone has the opportunity to take Fridays off during the summer, that’s what vacation days are for – splurge! Lastly, HomeAway makes it easy for you to explore, plan, and book your seaside escape.

As for me, I will be joining my sisters, nieces, and my wonderful mother in Delray Beach, Florida this summer. We’ve rented a beach house for a couple of weeks, and with it being my first real family vacation that involves just about everybody, we expect to have a fun-filled time. However, since this is a trip focused on family time and some much needed rest and relaxation, you will probably find us sitting poolside in the backyard, enjoying the many charming eateries that Delray has to offer, or sitting on the beach with an umbrella in our drinks.

So far, it seems as though this trip has a “plan as you go” theme to it. With that being said, I can’t guarantee that we do much more than have a typical Florida vacation. Yet, when you consider the overall cost and the time that you get to spend with the people you love – and rarely see – I’d say it’s priceless.

With summer quickly approaching, I find myself becoming anxious to see my family and to soak up some much needed vitamin D on the sandy beaches of Delray. I cannot wait to immerse my feet in the warm sand, while looking out at the beautiful oceanfront and getting some much needed R&R. Do you have any summer vacation plans?
